Wozair Dubai Awarded Damper Contract for Jack-up Rigs in Saudi Arabia

Wozair Dubai has been awarded the hull ventilation scope of supplying Pneumatic Fire Dampers for two Jack-up drilling units in Saudi Arabia by Lamprell Energy Ltd. The order was received in November 2020 and manufactured in two parts, with the second part (Rig- 2 dampers) due for delivery this month.

Following this, Wozair are delighted to have received a second order to supply Electric Fire Dampers & Shut off Dampers for the living quarters of both Rigs in May 2021.

The rigs are being built collaboratively between International Maritime Industries (IMI), Saudi Arabia and Lamprell Energy Ltd, UAE with Lamprell’s share of project value amounting to circa $350 million USD. The two rigs were subcontracted to Lamprell after IMI secured the original contract from ARO Drilling, a 50/50 joint venture between Saudi Aramco and Valaris.

The majority of work will be performed at Lamprell’s UAE facilities with final commissioning works performed in Saudi Arabia.

IMI is a Saudi joint venture between Saudi Aramco and partners Lamprell, the National Shipping Company of Saudi Arabia, and Hyundai Heavy Industries. Once completed, IMI will be the largest, full-service maritime facility in MENA.
